Preface is made by Enlomi LLC. This page says what we hold and what we do not, and it is short because there is little to say.

Your book

Preface is an application that runs on your own computer. Your manuscript is read from, and saved to, the folder you choose for it on that computer. There is no Preface server that it passes through, is copied to, or is stored on, and we cannot read it.

Your chapters are kept as ordinary text files. You can open them in any editor, move them, back them up, or stop using Preface, without asking us and without losing anything.

Asking for early access

When you write to hello@preface.press, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to tell us, and we keep it so that we can answer you and run early access. We do not sell it, and we do not pass it to anyone else. Ask us to delete it and we will.

That mail is carried by Google Workspace, which stores and processes it for us in the ordinary way of a mail provider.

Telling you when it is ready

If you leave an address on the home page, we store that address and the country your request came from, and nothing else. We use it for one message — that Preface is out — and then for nothing. We do not sell it, we do not pass it on, and there is no other list it joins. Ask us to remove it and we will.

This website

The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes standard request data such as IP addresses in order to serve it. The fonts are served from this site rather than from a font service. There are no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no cookies: nothing here tries to work out who you are or where else you have been.
